On the cusp of turning 18, Monique is generally bored with life.  She could go to college, but she doesn't really feel like it and her parents aren't really pushing her to - not that they've had many conversations about it, Monique's parents are divorced, independently wealthy and spend much of their time traveling around with their new significant others.  Monique doesn't mind, really.  She has all the liberty that every other teenager craves.

And it's getting boring.

She isn't stupid, she doesn't do hard drugs, just smokes like a chimney and drinks from time to time.  You'd think everyone at school would be lining up to be her friend, with all that she can do and get away with and the toys her parents buy her to make up for never being around, but she doesn't play the usual high school games either and hasn't really bothered showing up to her last semester much anyway.  Graduation's in the bag, she's not planning to walk.  Her parents won't be there anyway.

She's smart, sarcastic, suffering from heavier than usual adolescent ennui, and still has the fearlessness of a child who hasn't learned about mortality yet.  She was bound to get into some kind of trouble eventually.

Name: Claudia Dowell

Age:  22 years

Talent: Sorcery, moderate

Appearance: Straight black hair which she wears short and layered, often all over the place, pale eyes that look gold in certain light, hazel or brown in others.  She's slight, not athletic at all but not chubby, and she barely hits 5'5".

Personality:  She's inclined more towards pragmatism than fancy, which is why she has a 'mundane' occupation, despite the fact that she could function in the magical world- hidden just below what most saw as 'real'- without too much trouble, but because she cannot be the best sorceress, she chose instead to be the best reporter.  Or, at least that is her plan.  She's still very low on the totem pole, having to bang out back-page blurbs on city council meetings while trying to find her first 'big scoop' when not copying down guest lists on big gallery openings or charity events.  The great irony of her life is that the biggest scoop any mortal ever imagined is right at her fingertips, but even if she wanted to write it, her editor would never print it.  He'd never believe it.

Biography: She had a normal childhood, normal enough for a girl who can light candles without matches and find objects she's never seen in places she's never been.  Her family had also been talented, far more than she was.  Her decision to go make a life in 'the mundane' had made her a black sheep, but she was still invited to all the family functions and Sunday dinners.  She attended high school and college and graduated a year early, going straight to work for one of the city papers.  She hasn't had much excitement in her life - yet.

Yes, well, no matter how great the plan, there are bad days.  And today, is a bad day.  Ah well.

It snowed today.  And I the weather conspired with change-fatigue and a huge fight I had with my fiance this morning (at 5 AM no less) about money to send me into a bad spiral today.  I didn't achieve much, at work or otherwise.  And...yeaaaaaaaaaaah... blah.

Anywho!  Moving on!  One must continue the uphill battle.  I knew this was going to be harder now that I have things that I can't not worry about, but I know what I'm doing and where I am going and why.  That's what's important.

Just to restock:

What: making money to pay rent and bills which is totally acceptable while I pick a law school and apply for the necessary funds to pay for it

Where: law school / literary fame

Why:  Because I like to argue with people and I look damn good in a skirt suit.

wow.

that was actually kinda depresing

HRmmmmmmm...

Okay, the title's corny as hell, but I couldn't help myself :-D

So, it's Day 2 of my mission to re-connect with the Wonderkitty within and I have to say: it's going well!

Steps I have taken so far:

Quit Dieting:  The Wonderkitty does not starve herself, not for anything.   The Wonderkitty probably should still start going to the gym again - particularly since she's paying for a membership anyway.

Writing again even if it's drivel:  Yes, I am determined to fill my journal in two months.  I'm making myself write down even the random silly crap, which, honestly, turns into some pretty interesting poems/prose.

Doing things that aren't work/fiance related!  -- That's the big 'un.

For months I've basically been going to work solely to pay my bills, something that I kinda blame my fiance for because if I weren't with him I'd probably be a)living somewhere much cheaper or b) still living with my parents (and quite happily thank you).  And then when I get home from work, I cook dinner for my fiance and his little sister who's currently crashing with us and usually his best friend who's been over at our place every night since his girlfriend moved out.

Seeing a pattern here?  Yes, that is a good question: since when was the Wonderkitty a self-matyring little bitch?  The Wonderkitty may have been a Bitch on occaision, but she has never been a someone's li'l bitch.

Enough of that.  I am filling my calendar for May with things the Wonderkitty wants to do!  I'm going to a lecture on Bob Dylan at the ol' Alma Mater on Friday, and then the following Friday I'm going to see (yet another) re-interpretation of Hamlet at the same place.  Then there's an art gallery opening I'm going to and I'm re-connecting with all my awesome friends over at Eve-Radio.  WooT!  (I may even get a show, keep your fingers crossed for me!)

So, one little step at a time, The Wonderkitty is making her way back to herself.

Oh and we're still going 4-Wheeling for Memorial Day.  We have a favorite spot and everything, it's gonna rock!

Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah... I'm back.  I can tell from my ridiculous backlog of messages and deviations that most of y'all are still around.

I kinda fell off the world for a while, but I'm working on finding my way back.  It's funny, I was reading some of my old journals from college and I couldn't help but laugh at me bitching about my 'routine.'

I'll take college routine over my routine now any day.  I work in sales and I haven't written much of anything in months and months... almost a year, really.

Fuckin' a...

Okay, so, for the record?  Yup. Colorado Springs blows.

Oh, and I decided to go to law school!  I took the LSATs, got a 162 and I'm currently debating re-taking them.  I gotta get a short list of schools I really like and find out how they look at the test score reports - newest, highest or if they just take the average.

Anyways, like I said.  I'm trying to get back.  Just because I have to work sales, doesn't mean I have to give up everything else.
